Collaborative Law

If you’re looking for more structure and order in the divorce process where you and your spouse do most of the talking, but with lawyers guiding you through the process, collaborative law may be the best option for you. Litigation is not involved in collaborative law, and the lawyers are ultimately fired if the case is not settled.

Collaborative Law is a process that ensures all necessary data is out on the table and analyzed, and that emotions are under control before negotiations begin. The parties choose their preferred collaborative process from three different commonly-used models:

  • Lawyer-only model: the 2 parties and their lawyers (est. minimum cost for both parties combined $10,000)
  • Modified Team Model: 2 parties, 2 lawyers, 1 coach, 1 financial planner (est. minimum cost: $10,000)
  • Full Team model – 2 parties, 2 lawyers, 2 coaches, 1 financial planner, 1 child specialist (est. min. combined cost $15,000)
